Archery Course

Archery Course was held on 13th and 20th December 2008.
The Sec 1, Exco'08 and 09 had attended the course.
They learnt the basics of shooting and the theory of it. They enjoyed themselves during the shooting even though they are under the sun. After the theory and practical test, they had some competition among themselves. From this games, it bond them together.

The archery course is quite fun especially when you shoot arrows. But, it was boring during the lecture. The seniors treat us quite well. We did learn stuff but the test was very difficult and it feels like no one will pass. People who even studied had the same feeling that the test was difficult and hopefully, everyone will pass.

I find the archery course I attended earlier this week was fun, but make my fingers pain because I did not played for quite some time since I was primary 5. Some people might not like due to the hot weather or the fact that they always did not get the target they wanted. This sport requires the skill of having precision aiming, endurance and patience and most importantly, you need the correct momentum to shoot it.
If you lack either of these skills, perhaps you may not get the best shot.
I am not a professional, just a regular because I like sports which take time to develop my potential.

In this course, we learnt how to use a bow and shoot the arrows at the right position. We went through theory and practical test in this course. On the first day of course, the instructor taught us how to aim and shoot the arrows with free style and Olympic style. We use the sight to aim in Olympic shooting and looking through the arrow to aim in free style shooting. We also learn about parts of the arrows and bows and many other things. We learn about grouping too. It is the place where we shoot arrows. On the second day of course, we had test on what we learn through this course. To pass the practical test, we have to form grouping, how to shift the sight and the place where the arrow go. All of us passed the practical test. After the entire test, we had a mini competition. We formed 3 groups and each group has to shoot the balloons. The group that shoots the most balloon wins. We learnt a lot through this course.

The archery course was very fun! In my opinion, because this was my first time learning archery and this was a great opportunity! During the two-day course, I realized that playing archery is not very simple, as it seems on TV as firstly, bows are quite heavy and really, it is not easy to aim at the bull’s eye. But still, learning archery helps me to learn a skill!
