Today was the secondary 1 orientation. We introduce them how to do basic first-aid and tell them about SJAB.

As for the sec 2,3 and 4, they got to learn about Principles and Practice of First-Aid.
We also teach them KOTO which is about the history of SJAB to prepare them for their upcoming test.

All of us have an enjoyable Friday as we got to learn about new things and interact with each other.

While the 2 Annual First Aid Competition Teams are still training hard on every Monday, Tuesday & Friday for the BIG day on 27 March, Sun, we have many other events taking place in SJAB!

CHINGAY PARADE PUBLIC DUTY

The annual Chingay Parade is happening on 12 Feb which is this Saturday! It is a rare opportunity that our cadets can be involved in this public duty event as first aiders on standby. You have to understand that the 10 different zones in Singapore take turns for such big scale National events. Last year, a few of our cadets were members of marching contingent for National Day Parade! :))

Anyway, we have 5 cadets who will be participating in this year's Chingay Parade PD. They are Glenn Giam, Randy Lee, Ma Hay Man Soe, Janice Tan and Pearlyn Soh from Secondary 3... I believe it will be a fun and memorable experience for them.

First Aid Competition Briefing
Happening on 26 Feb is the Games Day. The Competition Briefing will also be held that day so Comp Team cadets please take note and attendance is compulsory.

I still remember last year's Games Day. We had 44 members going to Hwa Chong Institution and all of us had fun... Well, the Sec 1 cadets will join us this Friday for the first time during CCA and they will say their pledge solemnly on 26 Feb. As for the games, we are sending in 1 girls team from the upper Sec. We are sending in just 1 team (we had 3 last year) because many of our cadets have signed up for the Singapore Cancer Society Flag Day. Don't worry! there's always another Games Day next year~

BADGES/COURSES!!

The KOTO module which has spread across 3 weeks has finally ended. It was announced on the last CCA Friday that there will be a KOTO test this coming Friday so here is a GENTLE REMINDER, PLEASE GO AND READ YOUR NOTES!! :D

As our corps is soOOooOOoo Big, it is quite impossible for everyone to sit for the KOTO examination all at one go so we will have to split into 2 groups. The first group will go for 12 March while the second will go for 28 May. Once signed up for the test, make sure you study hard and pass it OKAY! You know just how important KOTO badge is to a SJAB cadet. It is a compulsory badge in order to achieve the Chief Commissioner's Badge (5 CCA points!!) And it is important to know the history of your own CCA!

CD course (Civil Defence) will take place on 14 & 15 March, Mon & Tues.

SANA course (Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association) will take place on 17 March, Thursday. After the course, you will be required to go online and complete a survey in order to pass the entire badgework.

Again, once signed up for the test, make sure you attend the course (full day course from morning till late afternoon) and pass it in order to clinch a brand new badge for yourself! =D

Hello:) We hav our annual First Aid and Footdrill Competition in April, next year. We have started our trainings to prepare for the competition. I would be updating the progress and will upload some pics:) Our trainings are thrice weekly:Mon,Wed, Fri. Hello! Here to update events before the school holidays ends! On 15 October 2010, we have organised a crime prevention talk for the cadets. There was a presentation by two police officers. Not only the cadets would have badges, they have learnt how crimes can happen and how crimes can be prevent. They have colourful printed brochures given to them on how to prevent each crimes such as robbery,housebreaking , cybercrimes etc.These are some pic taken during the talk:)

Dear SJAB cadets, this is Ms Chew. Yes, I am back from maternity leave and will be seeing ALL OF YOU when school reopens in January 2011.

Right now, i have this very important news to release. It is regarding the Annual St. John Flag Day!! Starting from this year, only cadets from Secondary 3 and above will be allowed to take part. So it means this is probably your last chance ever to do a flag day.... A letter will be mailed to your house so please check your mailbox within the next few days and show your parents the letter.

Please note that unless you are overseas or unwell on the actual day, attendance is compulsory as this is a school event.

How does it benefit you you may ask. It is a meaningful event and think about this, how many school events can let you earn 8 CIP hours?? Remember this, CIP hours contribute to your CCA points and grade!

In the event you will be overseas (inform us earlier!) or fall ill on the day, please contact the school office at 6273 6265 to leave a message to inform the SJAB teachers. Failure to provide a photocopy of the air ticket or a medical certificate when school reopens will result in disciplinary actions being taken.

Alright, this is what is going to happen on 29th December! :)

You will first report to school for attendance taking and collection of the donation tins before proceeding to selected locations such as Bugis, Holland Village and Orchard Road as a group together with a few other cadets and your IC. You will report back to the teachers in school by 4pm to return all donations collected. Have your breakfast before reporting to school as you will only get your 45-minute lunch break at 12noon.

It is not long after Christmas and since it is the season of doing good things for others, you should all aim to collect as much donations as you can! AHEM! The teachers will be doing spot checks! Do know that the money raised will be used to help the Brigade runs its operations and thereafter help the public. :))

Time: 7am – 4pm (Lunch Break from 12noon to 12.45pm)

We have our UG ( Uniformed Group) camp. It was a 3day 2 night overnight camp which was from 20th -22 th May 2010.

2oth May , Thursday
We have Field cooking and camping &campcraft theory and practical.Later, we have Total Defence Bronze theory lesson mainly for the Sec1.

We have separates our cadets into two teams. 1st team people were to do field cooking and 2nd team people were to do tent pitching.

22 May , Friday
good morning! this was our 2nd day in camp. in the morning, we did our PT ( physical training) .After morning assembly, cadets gathered to have hiking theory lessons as later, they have to hike! the hiking was planned by the training dept. after preparing the items needed for hiking, then it was time for us to go for an adventurous hike.

During the hiking journey , we have TOC lessons. ICs taught the cadets how to use open, use and close the strechers. The cadets learnt it fast , espcially the internatonal students. Also, we have Amazing Race which included games. Cadets were very competitive but still, they have fun time at there. Despite being tired, our cadets,trainers and teachers were preservered and determined to walk back to school. :D

We have a teabreak when we came back.Cadets were hungry as they craved for their food. Filling their stomach , we have a triage theory lesson which they are taught to evacuate and treat the casulty according the wounds they have. After taken our dinner, we have campfire with the Indonesian students who came on a study tour at our school.

23 May, Saturday
This is our last day of the camp. After PT, we have area cleaning to make sure that the venues we used are clean with no litters to be seen. We have a small debrief and sang the teachers' cheers. do anyone remember it? i think we should sing those cheers again.Hahahaha... Later, it was time to go home and have a good rest.

The camp helped to bond together with our cadets more.The cadets who went for the camp have learnt more first aid and bandaging skills. Also, the camp helped them to achieve badges etc.

Hello!Today we celebrated St John's Day which falls on June 24 as it was a school holiday.We only have 1 day to train for today but then we did quite well!:D Seems like mam(s) & sir(s) are impressed!aren't u ?:) All of us survived the whole 1 and half hours :)The good news is that , NONE OF US FAINTED!! Heard that we stand the longest for this year's St John's Day compared to last year.I feel very happy!!

Lessons have been going on every Friday so that all our cadets can achieve their badges to get their chief commissioner badge by the time they graduate! remember, we must all strive hard for the CCA points under the LEAPS system!!

on 19th Feb, we had Mr Fang from Field Studies Club (FSC) to give all our cadets a lesson on Map Reading... The kids looked excited opening up the maps and they certainly gained knowledge on things like how to determine if a particular hiking trip is going to be tough or easy. Just by reading the maps carefully and analyzing it, they can determine the steepness of the slopes they may encounter. let's take a look at some of the pictures taken during the course.

our dear miss Siti also taught the cadets KOTO after the map-reading lesson by Mr Fang. KOTO stands for Knowledge of The Order, which is also a course which all cadets must pass in order to get their Chief Commissioner Badge.

Footdrill training was carried out after the lessons. It is always a pleasant sight when all cadets march uniformly. As a uniform group, doing proper footdrill is a must. let's always remember the 3 rules: DON'T TALK, DON'T MOVE, LOOK IN FRONT. and also Ms chandran's "STOMACH IN, CHEST OUT". hahaha...

The participating teams for the annual footdrill and first aid competition have been finalised and all the cadets have put in a lot of effort for this training.

The TICs would like to encourage all HSS comp team cadets to persevere and we believe that all training sessions will prove to be useful and worthwhile. Wishing comp team all the best is not enough, I hope all of you can achieve something for yourself during secondary school study life! And believe the teachers and alumni seniors when we say COMP TEAM will make you a better person and add colours to the Hendersonian Memory you shall have in the near future..

there have been 5 training sessions since the school started proper this year. i hope all SJ cadets are ready for the year and be assured, we have great plans for all of you this year. It is going to be a fruitful year as lessons such as CPR, map-reading, KOTO, first aid for poisoning, bites and etc have all been prepared. Learn to be a real first aider. That is the reason why all of us are in SJAB.

SJ! just remember, whatever you do in SJAB, it will be a part of what makes up Henderson Life for you. So do enjoy the activities and take part actively. You will find all these worthwhile after you graduate from Henderson :)

Alright, let's take a look at what had taken place over the pass few trainings so far.

15 JANUARY 2010

The sec 1s & 2s had their first CPR lesson in the year. It was a revision for most of the sec 2s but it was an eye-opener for the sec 1s who were doing their attachment to SJAB for the first time!

the Sec 3 cadets were having fun during their lessons as well and after all these, all cadets from Sec 1-4 had our usual community song singing session and they did really well that day!

22 JANUARY 2010

We had another batch of Sec 1s attached to SJAB that day and they did footdrill training under the coaching of their Sec 2 & 3 seniors. While this took place, the other levels were all having either their footdrill training to improve their marching or first aid lessons.

Some of the sec 3s & 4s were involved in the annual speech day rehearsal at the parade square. It's tough standing under the hot sun for the practices but the kids did well as all of them persevered and their marching was ahem, smart!! [comments from Mr Felix Tan :) ]

29 JANUARY 2010

besides having the usual Physical Training (PT) sessions, all CCAs in school are now having mass run sessions to enhance the physical fitness of all Hendersonians. SJAB ran 5 rounds in the soccer field under the hot sun but it was really pleasing to know that no one gave up, as all of them continued jogging till the very last lap.

it was also the same day where we had the 3rd batch of Sec 1s attached to our CCA. they did their footdrill but they had their fun too when the games started.

Sec 1 orientation

today, was the day that we worked hard for.
we started planning and organising for the sec1 orientation during december 2009.
when sch re-open, we started rehearsing for the presentation & show.
after all the effort & hard work tat our members put in, it is a great success!

our Teacher-In-Charge they gave as much support as they could.
so we, as seniors, tried to come back as much as we can, to help & guide our juniors out in everyway we can.
also, our juniors stayed back after school (almost everyday), working hard just to make today possible. =)

this is the first time we ever tried to perform a skit with an ambulance being driven into the scene.
we wouldn't say that the orientation we put up today was perfect, however i think it is pretty well done. :)
guess we have all tried our best and learn something out of it.
other than the end result, the process is important as well.
wat matters is our cadets learn and all of us benefits from then mistakes we made, and we believe that the next time round, we will do better!

just want to say THANK YOU to all that helped us in one way or another.

lets work hard for our upcoming Inter-corps First Aid Competition. we will commence training starting from next week.

Air-rifle course
Hello everyone! Our Friday cca day was different.Yep,we were having the air-rifle course. The rifle was very and long and also,very heavy... but it was fun right?it is a new experience for most of us. we should appreciate this course because the training dept and teachers arranged it and not forgetting, the cpbs dept who helped us to get badges.
Oh yeah,the admin dept has an new member!He is Glenn from 1e1!
Exams are round the corner so please use the limited time we have ,to prepare for it.

hello.. this fridaye we are having our SANA course. everyone pls be punctual. besides i guess that we are having the air riffle course on the last two trainings. it will be both theory and practical.. *excited* We are trying our best and putting in our efforts to arrange all this courses to get badges so everyone should appriciate it.. and training has got three new jujuncos (ashik, farith adn man soe) hope that we'll work together..
EOY exams are coming so in this 1 week break we should spend the time wisely. all the best.. :)

Hello everyone, as what Eunice said, on 5th of september the sec2s and the sec3s went for the civil defence course. On 4th of september the sec1s to 3s also attended for the crime prevention course. Well, on 11th september which is on a friday, the sec2s and 3s will have their sana course. Which is at sengkang. Hope you guys will learn much from the courses, exams are coming soon. Buck up! But, please do not forget to go for the courses, as we put in a lot of effort to plan those courses. Also, the CPBS department have new ju-juncos already! They are Pearlyn and Jagadeesh, not forgetting our seniors me, Priscilla, Harvinder and Shuyu as the head.

Irshad here. Blogging about LOgi stuff. Ms Chew ask me to blog about it. Well about Logi erm.. we got the new jujuncos four of them. (Marn OO, Ronald, Janice & ZhiQiang). I guess Logi now needs to get the uniform ready like we need to buy some parts of the uniform and distribute to all people who have not gotten their uniforms. On the Saturday(5 September'09),we went to the Bukit Batok Fire Station to attend the course so we can get badges:) The fire station is male dominated which means there are no female.During the trip,w got a booklet that consists of five module:First Aid,One-Man CPR,Fire Safety and Casualty Evacuation,Emergency Procedures and lastly,Unconventional threats.

During the talk for the first-aid and CPR,the instructor taught us lots of things.When come to the bandaging of the head,it is different from ours'.It was the pad sticking together with the roller bandage.The instructor was very hilarious and the room is filled with laughter.Each of the school has to sent out 2 representatives to do the bandage demo using the new bandage.So Rajes had to bandage Angela and they did very good:)

After the first -aid talk ,was the CPR.Then later we have lunch.Next,we have another instructor who talked about the 3 other modules.There was one thing i found it interesting was the the way the carry the stretcher.They carried it using the way people carrying the plastic bags.They do it this way so that they can carry more stretchers in their arms.

Finishing explaining the talk,we were given a test and after that,we went down to extinguish the fire.Then we got back the certificates and everyone passed.Isn't that great!!! It was time to leave the fire station and go back to school.Hmm...the whole thing was quite fun...

September holidays is here(hooray!) but make use of these time to prepare our exams.Oh yeah...also for the advisers,do well for the O/N level examS.

First of all, let's look at photos taken during UG camp which took place in MAY 2009. All cadets attended several courses throughout the 3 day camp. The courses were enriching as they helped to widen our cadets' knowledge on history of SJAB, citizenship in Singapore, Accident and Prevention (measures to take to ensure safety) etc...these courses were delivered by our very own cadets, of course, with the guidance from teachers. Each and every cadet received a green A4 size booklet which is the course manual. This course manual is put together with a lot of effort put in by students and teachers, so HSS sjab cadets, please treasure it!

For each and every test the cadets took, it contributes to the number of badges HSS can get. =) Let's all work hard, shall we? Learn as much as you can during your 4 years in SJAB...

During the 3 day camp, the cadets also learnt how to pitch tents and they were graded for it. They also had the chance to experience outdoor cooking, eating from their mess tin under the hot sun... and a good time singing community songs together in the quadrangle!!

On the last day, there was a prize giving ceremony, recognising the efforts and hard work put in by the EXCO members, teachers, outstanding platoons and alumni members. and i guess that was when all cadets had beautiful smiles on their faces. Or was it because it was finally time to go home and rest???

Anyway, as the teacher in charge of sec 1 cadets, i have mostly photos of the sec 1s. Cadets from other levels, please do share if you have taken photos of your level. The sec 1 cadets went for their long-awaited First Aid test on the 11th july at the HQ. All of them passed their tests. Hooray! We even took photo with the examiner before we left HQ... The kids really learnt a lot that morning... and yes, they asked questions that they have been dying to know and the examiner answered al their questions.

Last but not least, this is to all cadets who have tried their very best at the walkathon cards, GOOD JOB GUYS! =)

6 days more to Inter Corps First Aid Competition 2009. Trainings started since last year end, nearly all put in effort, trying to make the best out of it. But there are bound to be tears and disappointment.

At this point of time, I urge all to focus on your health and read up your theory note.

What you need to know you have already learnt, you just have to refresh your memory. Recall all what you have done in all the trainings.

Competiton Team Training Camp 2008

Remember how long a distance we covered just by pure determination and the motivation we gave each other. Use the same attitude you had for the camp, for this coming competition.

Whatever position you are, be it leader, no 2 , no 3, no 4, reserve or even the steward, every single one of you plays a part in the competition. You are important in going through the competition, every step of the way.

Remember to enjoy the process. It’s not the results that matter, if you win something is just an extra bonus. ;)

Before I end off, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the SJAB teacher in charge, Mr Kevin, Ms Violet, Ms Dong, Ms Siti and Ms Chandran. For always taking care of the team and trying very hard to mould every one of them to become a better person.

Inter-UG Soccer (Lower Sec)

Our Sec 1 and 2 CCA members took part in the Inter-UG Soccer Competition this year. They worked hard in the games and showed good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The seniors also helped out in managing and coaching the teams. Some of them also helped out in the running of the tournaments. Indeed, we had a lot of fun and learnt much from the experience. The game is still on going and we shall work hard to achieve! Go forward, Henderson SJAB!

Many events have happened these few weeks. This is Miss Violet Chew reporting. I have many SJ photos with me and i shall dedicate this post to all SJAB cadets. Let's take a look!

On 14 March, the sec 1 cadets had their sec 1 inauguration and games day at Tanglin Secondary School. Thanks to the helpers Shuyu, Priscilla, Sebastian and Rajes that day! and also to the nice officers Sir Willie, Mam' Hwee-Ing, Mam' Nerissa and Mam' Ting ting.. and yes, I was the teacher-in-charge that day who brought the cadets there.

And of course, we went to batam for our GOS (Gift Of Sight) trip with the Lions Singapore. These are the photos taken by me and we certainly took many many more so i welcome you guys to blog about your pictures if u have any. You can pass your pictures to either Rajes, Pan Ying, Angela, Irshad or Eunice and they can do it for you. They are the bloggers of St John's family at Henderson. =)

The group of 44 students. 2 teachers and 2 alumni members set off early in the morning on 18th March. We set up eye clinics for the first 3 days and helped to dispense spectacles to secondary school children, primary school children and also students from a church school. The 4th day was a city day tour and we arrived back in singapore at 8pm on the 21st March.this are the 2 alumni members Hwee-ing and Nerissa. Not forgetting teacher-in-charge Miss Chandran and Ms Chew (myself)..

last but not least, as I myself and Mr Kevin Teo are the teachers i/c for the Ambulance Cadet (AC) team, i have some pictures of the members during their training. i know all the teams have been training very hard. I hope all teams continue to work hard and will do their very best to do Henderson proud on 18th April, Sat!

YO! Eunice here again...hooray we have came back from Batam GOS trip.The trip was very fun...oh yes...Aside from GOS trip,tomorrow would be CCA day.Do u like it?This would be a start of a new term so we should 'carry out' our Friday with enthusiasm,right???

Oh yeah by the way,tomorrow we would have GOS camp so people in GOS remember to pack as we are staying overnight and also bring our reflection notebook.I think camp would be fun as there would be activities.

Hmm...before our March holidays,we have Sec1 inaugration,public duty and many more and our largest event would be Gift Of Sight!

Also,the competition is round the corner.People in comp team,work hard and don't stress!!!:D

erm angela here...again....finally got sme photos...hees...we had tarining on friday and here's one out of the many photos we took...(would like to leave some photos for the rest to post....) so we had PD the next day....at siglap when ms chandran was the MC...we had quite some fun....yeah i got home dead tired...practically nothing happen at the PD on sat...so the first aid bag was rather extra there but safety precautions marhs. syafiqah and i bought the bulky green bag(the colour look quite like this..) hme very malu and a bit of suaku....lehs...hees kidding...heard rajes and prscilla went for the sec1 inaugaration....hear from them the next time. and we'll be heading for BATAM this coming Wednesday! And there's training tomorrow, from 9am-3pm !!! gosh! om my goodness gracious MIIE! it like 6 solid hours of training! DIE..DIE..DIE..!

YO! people...tml's Friday one of the most tiring day in a week..nvm yup true we had our KOTO test at the ST.JOHN'S headquarters. KOTO, known as Knowledge Of The Order. But honestly it is easier than history....anyways there's speech day today and some of the sec 2 have public duty at siglap and stuff like that...etc. and there's this inter-ug competition on Friday, tomorrow. er...yeah! the sickbay key was back smehow...congrats.

during the march holidays some of us and others form other cca's are going for the GOS(gift of sight) trip at Batam. we're staying at 4 star hotel(i guess so..that's what i heard from my friends...hees)!!! whoa! but the price is like $300++ yup around there....the trip is from 18th march to the 21st march....4 full days! quite a bit of stuff to pack! looking forward to the trip! don't know if the sec 1's from SJ are coming or not...but whatever it is...really hope to see the sec 1's from SJ go for the trip!

gosh...competition...aiyoh stress stress and more STRESS!!! hees=)guess I'll just stick with the colour black....

Hi everyone, Rajes here! :D

As you all know that tomorrow is Friday a.k.a CCA day. We all are going to have training! Okay, tomorrow as usual we need to bring our full uniform. Since tomorrow's CCA day is the last training for the term, we all should give our best and have a fun day.

Competition Training is going well. We only have 36 days to competition from today. We are training hard though some of us can’t make it to the training sometimes.

Next, this Saturday the sec 1s are having the inaugurations at the Taglin Secondary school. Hope that everyone is punctual and have proper attire.

On last Saturday,we have our KOTO test.The KOTO is like learning history so if u'll like history,KOTO would be easy... Then,oh yeah this Saturday will be the Sec1's inaugration.So sec 1s,u'll would have fun!:D

I am assigned to blog about the training news going on. so yeah, today is friday as usal its our CCA day. training was as usal. After school the comp team people had our training.. We have our trainings on Monday, thursday and friday. trainings are very fun. we learn alot of new things. hope to see more people joining comp team next year.

Archery Course

Archery Course was held on 13th and 20th December 2008.
The Sec 1, Exco'08 and 09 had attended the course.
They learnt the basics of shooting and the theory of it. They enjoyed themselves during the shooting even though they are under the sun. After the theory and practical test, they had some competition among themselves. From this games, it bond them together.

Here are some of the reviews from some of the cadets.

The archery course is quite fun especially when you shoot arrows. But, it was boring during the lecture. The seniors treat us quite well. We did learn stuff but the test was very difficult and it feels like no one will pass. People who even studied had the same feeling that the test was difficult and hopefully, everyone will pass.

I find the archery course I attended earlier this week was fun, but make my fingers pain because I did not played for quite some time since I was primary 5. Some people might not like due to the hot weather or the fact that they always did not get the target they wanted. This sport requires the skill of having precision aiming, endurance and patience and most importantly, you need the correct momentum to shoot it.
If you lack either of these skills, perhaps you may not get the best shot.
I am not a professional, just a regular because I like sports which take time to develop my potential.

In this course, we learnt how to use a bow and shoot the arrows at the right position. We went through theory and practical test in this course. On the first day of course, the instructor taught us how to aim and shoot the arrows with free style and Olympic style. We use the sight to aim in Olympic shooting and looking through the arrow to aim in free style shooting. We also learn about parts of the arrows and bows and many other things. We learn about grouping too. It is the place where we shoot arrows. On the second day of course, we had test on what we learn through this course. To pass the practical test, we have to form grouping, how to shift the sight and the place where the arrow go. All of us passed the practical test. After the entire test, we had a mini competition. We formed 3 groups and each group has to shoot the balloons. The group that shoots the most balloon wins. We learnt a lot through this course.

The archery course was very fun! In my opinion, because this was my first time learning archery and this was a great opportunity! During the two-day course, I realized that playing archery is not very simple, as it seems on TV as firstly, bows are quite heavy and really, it is not easy to aim at the bull’s eye. But still, learning archery helps me to learn a skill!

Competition Team Camp

On the 15th-17th December 2008, It was the competition team camp.
Here are the reviews from some of the cadets.

This is my first year attending the comp team camp. So, perhaps I thought it is quite easy for beginners. Never did I expect the camp to be so hard and tire everyone. We had to bring lots of stuffs and got punished for not doing things well. We were too under a lot of stress as they had given us limited time to do things. However, we too had fun on this camp, such as the barbeque and games. The night duty was quite fun where you had to patrol everywhere, but I was very tired. Sebastian said they took 15 minutes to wake me up, even though I switched on my alarm! Then, LCP Shuyu rushed to our bunk and told us there was a triage. Who would have thought there was a triage in the early morning. We didn’t even brushed our teeth! I apologize for being late for triage all because of the fact that they dismissed it as a prank. Overall, the camp was fun but very tired, partially because of the punishment and the stress the senior gave us. What I learn from this camp is that I have to be more serious and have a positive attitude always! From: Calvin Lee 1E2

During day 1, we had bag checking in the first day of camp. We had to pour everything out and put it back in again and again repeatedly. We also tried to standardize everything with the whole squad. It was quite difficult as some of the things some of them do not have. So we have to hide those things. We took quite a long time to finish standardizing everything. After that we had Footdrill. i trained the AC team. Although there are only 2 people in that team, they still trained themselves but not very serious. We had Maggie, baked beans, sardine and peas for lunch. We took very long time to finish eating and cleaning the mass tins which cause the other programs to be delayed. After that we had nursing. We learnt about hand washing and TPR (taking of temperature, pulse and respiration). After nursing was final parade.

During day 2, we had bag checking again. We took very long to standardize again. After that we went for a hike to Mount Faber. Before that, we wrote on a large piece of paper on what we want to achieve throughout this camp. During the hike, we did first again and small part of TOC. We did some cheers along the way too. We came back to school and had our lunch. After lunch we had some games and time for performance preparation. As for the seniors, they were helping to prepare for the BBQ pit. They taught us how to set up the pit and fire. After we had dinner, we went to clean up the place. Some people wash the toilet and some of us clean the pit. We had first aid theory test after that follow by final parade. All of the cadets also did the night duty of guarding the school gate.

During day 3, around 6am, we had triage. It was not very well done as most of us ‘died’ in the scene and only 6 people was alive. So the staffs had to teach us how to treat several wounds and evacuate casualty. After that we had pt. it was quite tiring as we had to run around the parade square some rounds without stopping. We also had mock competition after breakfast. After that was cleaning of bunk and packing our stuff. We took some time to finish. After cleaning, we went to a classroom and do our AAR, debrief and watching of video done by mam nerissa. We learnt about our mistakes in the camp. We done our final parade and did some cheers too to end off the camp.

The comp team training, I have attended, had taught me many new footdrills and first aids. I also learnt nursing too. The new drills also have many commands and I cannot really memorize many of it. Of course, this many weeks of training have also bond more together with everyone, also everyone started to think about others before they do anything, but we still lack of initiative, which I guess really boiled down to many problems and I guess the training also help everyone to built themselves mentally and physically too. Overall, the training was good except for the many sessions.

Overall, it was held successfully. The cadets learnt many things throughout the camp especially teamwork and skills such as footdrill, first aid and nursing/toc.

SHF CPR programme

We both went to a Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) programme which was organised by Singapore Heart Foundation(SHF). There were actually quite a number of ugs in that programme.

Taking a quiz ! Which was based on CPR.

After doing the quiz they showed us a video on how to do CPR in a proper way. They also introduced a new system by keeping a "How to do CPR" video in our hand phones, but those are only available for starhub users only.

After learning the way of doing the CPR and handing the quiz we got a goodie bag which traveen is holding in the left hand. After getting a goodie bag we headed smoothly...
